Megaworld Hotels & Resorts to join Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo 2025 Championing Muslim-Friendly Travel
Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR), the largest hotel operator in the Philippines, is set to participate in the highly anticipated Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo (PHTTE) this year. The event will take place from June 18 to 20 at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City, a venue known for hosting major trade expos. MHR’s involvement in the PHTTE highlights its commitment to promoting halal tourism and catering to the growing demand from Muslim travelers. Attendees can expect to engage with MHR’s representatives, learn about their halal-certified services, and discover the diverse offerings available across their hotel properties nationwide.

“Participating in events like the Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo allows us to stay abreast with the needs of our Muslim guests while showcasing our genuine commitment to inclusivity. We proudly support platforms that open doors for partnerships and deeper understanding of Halal travel. Championing Muslim tourism is a responsibility we have embraced as part of our Sampaguita brand of service and our identity as a Filipino hospitality brand,” said Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts.
With this year’s theme, “Showcasing diverse Halal, Halal-ready and friendly markets of all regions to the international arena,” PHTTE 2025 aims to bridge domestic and international markets through the promotion of Halal-certified products, services, and tourism experiences. The event highlights opportunities in the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), placing focus on Halal trade, tourism, and agriculture.
Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ active participation in the hospitality sector reaffirms its unwavering commitment to fostering inclusivity and cultural understanding. This dedication was formally marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on May 6, 2024, during the prestigious Arabian Travel Market held in Dubai. Since then, MHR has consistently spearheaded initiatives aimed at meeting the increasing demand for Muslim-friendly accommodations across the Philippines.
From January to March 2025, the group experienced a remarkable 40% increase in Muslim stays compared to the same quarter the previous year. Furthermore, this growth translated into an impressive 58% rise in revenue, showcasing the effectiveness of their tailored offerings. Key source markets, particularly India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, have significantly contributed to this upward trend, reflecting a robust traveler confidence in MHR’s tailored services, including halal dining options, prayer facilities, and culturally sensitive experiences. This growth not only highlights MHR’s strategic planning but also its role in enhancing the hospitality landscape for diverse traveler needs.
MHR, the pioneering and largest hotel chain in the Philippines, has garnered recognition from the Department of Tourism (DOT) as the first to achieve a 100% Muslim-Friendly Accommodation Establishment (MFAE) status across all 13 of its properties. This extensive portfolio includes renowned destinations such as the Savoy Hotel Boracay, Belmont Hotel Mactan, and Hotel Lucky Chinatown, all designed to cater specifically to the needs of Muslim travelers. These establishments feature dedicated prayer facilities, halal-certified meals, and staff trained in providing inclusive service that respects and celebrates diverse cultural practices.

Furthermore, MHR is committed to culinary excellence for its Muslim guests. The hotel kitchens at Kingsford Hotel Manila, Grand Westside Hotel, Savoy Hotel Boracay, Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown, Belmont Hotel Mactan, and Hotel Lucky Chinatown hold Halal certification from the Halal International Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines (HICCIP). This adherence to Halal standards ensures that every dish served aligns with the dietary guidelines and expectations of Muslim patrons, offering a reassuring dining experience.
As Megaworld Hotels & Resorts participates in this year’s Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo (PHTTE) in Davao City, it continues to enhance Filipino hospitality with a focus on inclusive and innovative service. By actively promoting Halal trade and tourism, MHR further fortifies the Philippines’ reputation as a welcoming and accessible destination for Muslim travelers, positioning the country as a leader in Southeast Asia and beyond in catering to the diverse needs of global tourists.
